What People Say

Most Liked

The genuine smoke barbecue stands out, especially their brisket, which is both tender and packed with flavor. Ribs fall right off the bone—no extra sauce needed to appreciate their complexity.

Portions are generous, perfect for an appetite. The mac and cheese side is a crowd-pleaser, creamy with a delightful crunch on top. Live music nights elevate the dining experience and draw in a lively crowd. The decor, with its rustic appeal and historical touches, creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

Great beer selection complements the menu, including local options that add to the region's charm. Plus, the friendliness of the staff shines through with attentive service that feels genuinely personal.

Most Disliked

The main complaint I’ve come across is the busy Friday evening rush. It's hard to snag a table at peak hours, particularly around 4 PM when the restaurant reaches full capacity. Timing your visit for quieter times, like Monday afternoons, is key.

Some diners noted that while the food is consistently excellent, the wait during peak times can be less than ideal. Occasional shortages in menu items, particularly during high traffic, can also be a disappointment when savoring favorites. While mostly children-friendly, parents have mentioned limited high chair options, which might be inconvenient on busy days.

We had a delightful lunch at this quaint cafe in Susanville. My wife and I shared the Signature Burger and it was plenty for both of us. There’s a really nice atmosphere here with all sorts Ranch Brands painted on the wall above the bar and a nice mural above the restaurant area in back. Highly recommended.

Incredible food. Well cooked steak, good portions. Potatoes cooked with crispy outside and soft inside. Everything very flavorful. Excellent mac and cheese side. Really neat setting in a historic building with free pool table, cornhole, couches, lots of tables and interesting historic furniture and murals.

Great atmosphere, the good old days theme really suits the place, if that just pictured a rundown dirty hole in wall you couldn't be more wrong. The place is spotless and you can really tell the staff love their jobs. The service is just as great as the food, fresh, presented well and full of care. If you are in Susanvile or just passing by take a minute and visit this unique place because words can only describe so much.

Genuine smoke barbecue, brisket soft full of flavour with crispy crust. Fall off bone ribs. No extra sauce needed. Large portions. Huge sides. No mayonnaise slaw was refreshing. Bacon corn was sweet and salty loaded with crumbled bacon. Walk into restaurant and feel like your in a saloon circa mid1800s. Indeed building opened in 1862. Recommend highly. Bring your appetite.

Stopped here on our travels based on the reviews and it was totally worth it. It was a little off the beaten track, but we wanted some ribs and needed to get going when we walked in the place was empty and it kind of scared us but for the most part, we just hate it in an off time. The place is huge as you can see from the video and it’s got hockey sack pool and some other games. We ordered a full rack of ribs and their spicy corn mix, which I don’t have a picture because we ate it so fast. The ordering process was smooth and easy and the food taste great. The ribs were just the right consistency, being not overcooked and not undercooked. The spicy corn with the jalapeños was off the hook. If you’re traveling through Susanville, highly recommend stopping here and eating inside or getting some food to go. You will not be disappointed.

4/14/23: Excellent ribs. Maybe the best I've ever had and I've had ribs all over the country including in Memphis and Kansas City. I asked the friendly owners and they explained their elaborate cooking process and it pays off. The brisket sandwich is very good too. Also the restaurant is in a very cool historical building and they have a pool table and corn hole which you can play while you wait for the food. Definitely worth a visit. If I lived in this town I'd be here all the time!

This place is amazing. Should be a 6 star rating. Amazing food and a great atmosphere. I was passing through Susanville and stopped for a quick bite and this ranks as one of my best decisions. Brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese. Best Mac and cheese I have ever had! If you are in Susanville or passing through, eating here is a must.
